Visas are not required from U.S. citizens by any of the countries where our resorts are located. However, a valid U.S. passport is required.

For citizens of other countries, please contact the airline you are traveling for information on entry / visa requirements.

Duty-free items include designer accessories, watches, crystal, gemstones and gold jewellery, perfumes, cosmetics and local liqueurs. Cuban cigars are also available.

For souvenirs with local flavour look for jewellery, paintings, musical instruments, hand-carved mahogany items, straw baskets and floor mats, wicker and wood furniture, reggae music, embroidery, silkscreened items, hand-loomed fabrics, leather sandals and shoes, jams and spices, Blue Mountain coffee, Jamaican rum and rum liqueur.

Dress in Jamaica is casual. You may want to bring a light sweater/jacket for evenings.

Electricity is generally 110 AC, 50 Hz with flat, two-prong plugs like those used in North America.

Anywhere between 10-20% is customary for cabs and restaurants.

Taxis in Jamaica are mainly non-metered (you set the price with the driver before boarding the taxi). Rates for metered taxis go by the car, not by the passenger. Non-metered taxis may be by the car or by the passenger (set the price and how the price is calculated before boarding the taxi). Check with the driver before starting your trip if you have any questions about the fare. Either way, a 10 percent to 15 percent tip for taxi drivers is customary.

Politely tell them to stop. Locals respond well to the word “respect” usually this quiets them up and they will immediately stop harassing you. By you saying that, it means you respect that they need to earn a living, but are not interested at the time.
